Makeover Week!!!

So, it's the week before school starts and I officially dub it "Makeover Week."

This is like the episode on The Biggest Loser where they give the contestants $1000, an appointment with a celebrity hair stylist and teach them a myriad of make up tricks.

I don't have $1000, don't have access to a celebrity anything and rarely use make up beyond my eyeliner, I'm thrilled!

A couple of months ago, I bought a $100 gift certificate to an area salon for a mere $40 (Thank you, Groupon). Since the entire thing must be used in one visit, I signed up for a hair cut, style and pedicure next Tuesday. Following that, I may head over to Sephora and have them give me a make up session.

I have enlisted my gays to assist in my clothing. Nothing fits me anymore, so it's time to hit the racks. The sales racks of course! I hope to receive the rest of my student loans in the next few days and am allowing myself about $200 to get some stylish basics for the new school year. It's like back-to-school shopping!

I'm lunching with one of my gays today and we will be flipping through mags and looking for clothes and hairstyles for me. If you have any opinions, I'm all ears!!!

So far, I thinking about both of these hair styles ... Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

Fitting room fun

When I was a size 16, I was a good, efficient shopper. I would run into Lane Bryant, grab any size 16 that looked remotely good and head to the register. I considered myself a perfect size 16 and was happy about it. It meant I was one of the smaller people in the store and helped me maintain some self-esteem.

It was a different feeling, however, whenever I went to those "skinny stores." You know the ones I mean - American Eagle, The Buckle, even The Gap. I always felt like such a poser going into those stores. I felt like the sales staff was staring at me and wondering why the hell I even bothered to enter their doors.

Until now.

I went into a skinny store today and had a blast! I even enjoyed trying on different pants in the dressing room (a humiliating feeling most times!). My friend Alison and I went shopping at a sidewalk sale and wandered into The Buckle. I tried on a million jeans and played with different fits.

It was the first time in my life that I didn't choose the fitting room far away from anyone else. I even gathered up the courage to step outside into the store!

I've been having a hard time with the changes in my body. I am far from describing myself as skinny, but how much my body has changed since September hit me today.

I was so excited, that I spent $80 on ONE pair of jeans!

No foul play here!

The NFL gives penalties for collar boning a player. I don't really know what that means, but I know I'm fascinated by collar bones.

Sure, it sounds strange, but, for me, seeing my collar bone is a goal - and a point of pride. It always has been. Look at the girls in the magazines. All of them have prominent collar bones.

And now, Ladies, look at me! I have collar bones too!!!

Last night I went suit shopping with Miss Abigail and found a great power suit - IN THE JUNIOR'S SECTION! Honestly, I haven't been able to shop in that section since I was in junior high!!! Admittedly, I am a 15 in those sizes, but who care? I'm not wearing plus sizes anymore - I CAN FIT IN JUNIOR'S CLOTHES!
